Liquid biopsy: the future of surveillance in individuals with inherited cancer predisposition?

Rolf Sijmons, M.D. Ph.D., is a senior clinical geneticist at the familial cancer clinic of the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG), the Netherlands. He is professor of medical translational genetics at the department of genetics, UMCG and University of Groningen.

Liquid biopsy is one of the buzz-phrases in medical literature as well as in in advertisements and webpages from industry. Could liquid biopsy help us to detect cancer early? Hype or reality? In this webinar we provide an introduction to the phenomenon of liquid biopsy and discuss if it might help in the surveillance of patients and families with inherited cancer predisposition.
