Dr. Héctor Salvador is a paediatrician specialising in pediatric onset cancer predisposition syndromes, based in Barcelona (Spain). He works at sant Joan de Deu Hospital, where he is involved in the clinical care and follow-up of children and families with hereditary tumour risk, including neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1).
This webinar offers a practical, clinically oriented overview of the emerging targeted therapies for NF1-associated tumours. It focuses on MEK inhibitors, in the management of plexiform neurofibromas, and it also considers the role of targeted treatment in NF1-related low-grade gliomas and other tumors. The session addresses patient selection, timing of treatment initiation, response assessment, monitoring of adverse events and long-term follow-up. Real-life clinical scenarios illustrate how to integrate these agents into multidisciplinary decision-making, with attention to quality of life and functional outcomes.
