Rolf Sijmons, M.D. Ph.D., is a senior clinical geneticist at the familial cancer clinic of the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG), the Netherlands. He is professor of medical translational genetics at the department of genetics, UMCG and University of Groningen.

This webinar is intended for clinicians, genetic counsellors, nurses and physician assistants who are relatively new to the field of germline diagnostics in patients and families suspected of having an inherited predisposition to develop tumours. Using next generation sequencing gene panels to obtain information on several genes simultaneously can be very informative. However, although these lab tests have their strengths they also have limitations you need to be aware of. We will review the practical aspects of those and also which info to expect in your patient’s lab test report.
